Arnold’s role will be limited in TERMINATOR 6 as they “pass the baton” to new characters!

When “News Corp Australia Network” (NCAN) sat down recently with Terminator creator James Cameron, the visionary director revealed not only that he wanted “Terminator 6” to be the start of a new trilogy, but hinted on what fans might expect in his new series of films. And what we can expect is a transition from the old Terminator films, to a brand new storyline.

It started with James Cameron asking himself the following question:

JAMES CAMERON: “The question is — has the franchise run its course or can it be freshened up? Can it still have relevance now where so much of our world is catching up to what was science fiction in the first two films. We live in a world of predator drones and surveillance and big data and emergent AI (artificial intelligence).”

In order to freshen up the franchise, James Cameron revealed that actor Arnold Schwarzenegger would only be somewhat involved… “to some extent”. This means that we should not expect Arnold to be the headlining star that carries these new Terminator films forward. Not only that, Cameron revealed that these new Terminator films would introduce brand new characters, and “pass the baton” to these new characters.

So while that means “Terminator 6” will not be a reboot, don’t expect the Connors nor the T-800 Model 101 to be the central focus of Terminator films any longer.

So who or what will be the central focus? We can’t wait to find out!

We’ll be back!

  1. Mr. Cameron understands this is the only way to successfully reinvigorate the Terminator property. You cannot thrive towards the future if you are not willing to let go of the past.
