Long time friend and collaborator James Cameron wrote an e-mail a little while ago to Vanity Fair, after the terrible news broke that Bill Paxton had died of complications from surgery at the age of 61. Here is what the saddened Cameron wrote about the passing of his dear late friend, Bill Paxton:

After our previous report this past Wednesday uncovering that likely “TERMINATOR 6” director Tim Miller was not only a contemporary inspiration of James Cameron, but an actual friend, we decided to dig deeper into that friendship to see what we could find. In late 1982, when James Cameron’s dream film project “The Terminator” was finally greenlit with a initial budget of 4 million dollars, Cameron knew his biggest challenge would be bringing the T-800 Endoskeleton to life for the film’s finale. With the groundbreaking filmaker’s tool of photo-realistic Computer Generated Imagery technology (CGI) still years away, Cameron envisioned creating all the T-800 endoskeleton shots with stop motion animation technology.
Last night, the world premiere of James Cameron’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day 3D” was screened at the Berlin Film Festival.
